A tough day with radiation.  I'm developing a sore, almost rash like area under my armpit.  I'm also showing some signs of wear under the breast.  They suggested that I go without a bra as often as possible.  They're concerned the tissue under the breast will start to break down soon.  I think part of the problem is my fault as for the past two days I've used deodorant soap in the shower.  I completely forgot about using Dove and I'm paying the price now.  I'm getting tired again as I'm not sleeping well at night.  I'm generating so much heat between the radiation and the Tamoxifen, that I spend hours tossing the covers off and then pulling them back on when I cool down.  Also, the breast and rib area is sore and I wake if I roll onto it while sleeping.

After radiation today I stopped at the State Library to work on my genealogy.  I needed to distract myself from thoughts of the Emerald City and #1Boss and spending time with my nose in old books and film usually does the trick.  I hit a dead end with the Newton line, so I went off in another direction and started working on my mother's mother's parents.  All I had on them was a name and that they came from Germany or Austria.  After a few hours on microfilm, I did stumble upon the area of Germany that they emigrated from and the year.  I also discovered the year they became naturalized citizens.  It's not a great deal of information, but it's a start.  I had been putting off tracing this line as I knew it would lead out of the country very quickly.  My next stumbling blocks will be that all the documents will be written in German.  I'll worry about that if and when I get that far.

The weather is still rather cold and rainy with the temperatures still down in the 50's during the day. Periodically during the day, the sky would just open up and spill it's reservoir of rain.   We must have had several inches of rain since the weekend.  I haven't been able to enjoy the deck yet.  First it was too hot and now it won't stop raining.

I started a crock pot of chili this morning for dinner.  With the outside temperatures so cool, the hot bowls of it tasted great.  It's a comfort food.  Looking back, I don't think that I have cooked as much in all the years that I have been married(both times combined) as I have during these past two and a half months.  I always got home too late from work or I had to work overtime or was on a weird shift.  I wish I could find a job in town that would reduce my commute but still pay me enough to cover the bills.  With gas prices so high, I could even take a local job at a lower pay scale and still cover expenses.  I've even considered taking a job in one of the school cafeterias.  I wouldn't have stress.  No need to buy business clothes.  And I'd have all the school vacations off.  Of course they work for minimum wage and I don't think we could survive on that.  I'm still looking.
